Bedroom
A rug in the bedroom adds an extra layer of coziness. A large rug that fills most of the floor space is ideal. You can place the rug underneath the night stands, or let the rug extend a bit past the foot of the bed. The most important thing to consider is having a comfortable landing for your feet when climbing in and out of bed. Another economical solution is to add two runners on either side of the bed.
Dining Room
In the dining room, you'll always want your rug to extend well past the table and chairs, keeping chair legs from catching on the rug when pulled in and out. An 8’ x 10’ rug is a common choice under a rectangular dining table. A round rug is also a great option if you have a square or round dining table. 8’ x 8’ is typically a good size for a standard square table.
Kitchen
Kitchens get a lot of foot traffic, so a just small 2’ x 3’ rug in front of the sink keeps the space tidy while adding some support where it’s needed. Alternatively, if you have a galley kitchen or an island, a runner makes a perfect floor covering for the full length of the space.
